New requirement for international van transport from 1 July 2026
From 1 July 2026, a new legislative requirement will come into force affecting international road transport carried out with light commercial vehicles. Vans with a maximum permissible mass of between 2.5 and 3.5 tonnes used for international goods transport or cabotage will newly be required to be equipped with a second-generation smart digital tachograph.
This change is based on European legislation and aims to ensure greater transparency in international road transport, more effective monitoring of compliance with regulations, and fairer market conditions.
